Connor Bodell
Connor Bodell discovered his passion for filmmaking early, where cinematography stood out as an instinct and an obsession. He was drawn to the psychology of the camera which includes how placement, movement, and light subtly shape an audience’s emotional experience. That ultimately defined his path.
Based in Los Angeles, Connor has shot commercial campaigns for brands including Acura, Rivian, Geico, KFC, San Disk, Invisalign, and FIFA World Cup 26 Los Angeles, bringing a balance of technical precision and emotional clarity to each project.
Connor won the Emerging Cinematographer award for his work on Nisei, an Oscar-qualified short that received a notable festival and press run. He also served as a cinematographer on the unscripted series Expedition Bigfoot. His work also includes internationally shot projects, with his recent film, The Resistance, completed in Belgium currently entering the festival circuit.
He is a member of IATSE Local 600 and previously selected for the ASC Vision Mentorship Program, where he was paired with the Emmy-nominated cinematographer; George Mooradian, ASC; who was a governor of the Television Academy and is committed to supporting ASC members furthering the craft of cinematography. Connor approaches each project with a commitment to collaboration, preparation and creative problem-solving. His philosophy is grounded in a simple principle: every visual decision must serve the story. Whether through intentional perspective, thoughtful use of natural light, or precise camera movement, his work is driven by authenticity and emotional resonance.
Connor’s primary ambition is to move further into feature films and long-form narrative storytelling. Focused on building lasting creative partnerships and expanding into higher-caliber projects, he is driven by both artistic curiosity and a relentless commitment to growth.
He further honed his craft at the Global Cinematography Institute. He began his career from the ground up, working as a runner at a rental house before moving into the camera department as a loader and assistant camera. Along the way, he developed a deep technical foundation and an intuitive understanding of camera systems, eventually expanding into the grip department and earning union membership as a dolly grip. He spent these years shaping light and mastering camera movement alongside accomplished cinematographers, which became instrumental in defining his visual approach.
Outside of filmmaking, Connor is an avid outdoorsman and artist. He is a whitewater kayaker who occasionally teaches with the LA Kayak Club, as well as a skier, amateur race car driver and musician. His photography practice remains an important creative outlet, with his work exhibited and sold through a brewery space in Tahoe. All of these skills have contributed to his success as a cinematographer one way or another and Connor is always looking for the next challenge.
